Village Fish Bar is a cherished local takeaway located at 58 Bridgend Rd, Aberkenfig, Bridgend, specializing in classic British fish and chips. This unpretentious spot offers a comforting taste of traditional seaside fare, perfect for anyone craving freshly cooked, hearty portions of Britain's favorite fast food.
What sets Village Fish Bar apart is its dedication to delivering freshly prepared fish, cooked on demand for every order. Customers love the satisfying crunch of the golden batter encasing tender, flaky fish fillets—a sensory delight that speaks to the bar’s commitment to quality. Complemented by their generous servings of golden, fluffy chips, it’s a meal that satiates appetite and nostalgia alike.
The takeaway’s atmosphere may be simple, but it is brought to life through the warmth and friendliness of the staff, who often receive praise for their approachable and welcoming service. As Alice Jenkins shares, the portions are notably large and the staff lovely, creating a warm connection that enhances the overall experience.
While most visits highlight the consistently pleasing quality of the fish and chips, it is worth noting that on occasion, some customers have indicated a slight variation in preparation quality, such as a greasier batter. However, these moments appear to be rare and haven’t diminished the strong local affection for the shop.

Always good quality fish and chips in the 10 years or more I've been going here. Make sure of the opening times as it caught me out occasionally. I'd say best quality in the area, so my go to chip shop when I get the urge!

Never had a bad meal from here. Staff are always very friendly. Portions are big, but not too big and prices are pretty standard for a chippy these days.

Not often I use a chip shop but I have been using this fish and chip shop for years. I’ve never had anything but fantastic service here the food is the best around. The place is spotless. It can be really busy and the cue can be daunting. However the staff work well and the cue goes down quite quickly. The only issue is parking but that doesn’t affect the shop at all. Highly recommend this place to anyone
